Autumn Days Stamp Set - Masculine Card

For today's Saturday Sample, I'm featuring the 5-Petal Flower Punch rather than my usual which is a rubber stamp set.  5-Petal Punch Flower Punch is on the Stampin' Up! Retired List, and I wanted you to see it in its "full glory" before it goes away forever on May 31st.  Here, I've used it to make a poinsettia and also used it to make the poinsettia leaves on my handmade Christmas card.  Super fun!

Farewell to Winter Post

Handmade Mother's Day Card

I received this beautiful handmade Mothers Day card last week, made by my very talented daughter Tiffany.  The color combination in this card is especially pretty with a softness that is very modern.  I will miss Peach Parfait as it is one of our retiring In Colors.  The other retiring Stampin' Up! product on this card is the Eyelet Border punch.  The designer paper is from this year's Sale-a-Bration--which means it was free!

I am so proud to be the mother of a daughter who is, herself, excelling as a mother!  This is the way it is supposed to be but often is not.  I can say, without reservation, that following the Lord Jesus Christ with a whole heart is what has made the difference for me and for Tiffany.  We cannot do this with our own wisdom and our own strength.  But the Lord will lead us, guide us, teach us, direct us, and love us all the way.

Mothers Day 2012 was a special day from start to finish! I actually began Mother's Day this year in the House of the Lord (church!) at Tower City Church--which is exactly where I wanted to be.  That is my home church where my husband is the pastor.  Worship was fantastic, and it was such a privilege for me to speak about motherhood from a biblical perspective.  I did the preaching for Mothers Day!  I may share a bit more about that in a post in a few weeks as I'm writing this late at night and need to get to bed.  This is my Sunday Inspirational Post where I share a bit of my journey with the Lord as well as my creativity.  I'd like to invite you to come visit us at Tower City Church...on the web if you don't live in San Antonio, and in person if you do! 

 

Stampin' Up! Lots of Love Letter Press Plate

For today's Saturday Sample, here's a handmade card with the Stampin' Up! Lots of Love Letter Press Plate and one of my favorite color combos:  pink and brown.  Here, I combined Pretty in Pink, Melon Mambo, and Chocolate Chip for scrummy colors that are good enough to eat!

This is a quick and easy card, and I love the way the Letter Press Plate does all the stamping for me!  Just run it through the Big Shot and the ink is pressed into the card stock producing a really unique look.  The many different scripts and fonts on the Lots of Love Letter Press Plate give it a quirky, modern feel with a little bit of classic thrown in.  I can take this card and add a punched greeting, but I think it's a lovely note card just the way it is.  I could also add an inside greeting like "Happy Anniversary", "Thinking of You", etc.  Are you ready for a very short supply list?!  Here it is!

Versatile Vintage Vogue

I created this set of cards with the very versatile Vintage Vogue (available in wood mount and clear mount) stamp set, and it is on the Stampin' Up! Retired List as well as several other elements on these cards and matching card box.  All the sentiments on these cards are from the now retiring Sincere Salutations--which I think is one of those classic, extremely versatile must-have stamp sets.  With eight different greetings, there is something for every occasion.

Notice the die cut letters on the card box.  They are made with the now retiring Timeless Type Junior Alphabet Dies (for the Big Shot).  I love these letters!  I have used them on scrapbook pages, handmade cards, decor items, and more.  Versatility is a my theme in this blog post, and these die cut letters certainly fit that descriptive!

Notably Ornate - Stamp and Scrapbook

Notably Ornate is one of many, many sets on the Stampin' Up! Retired List that I'm featuring this month here on my blog.  This lovely handmade card was designed by my daughter Tiffany.  Notably Ornate has four beautiful rubberstamp images including the ornate frame with lines as shown above, the bird, the "take note" oval, and the "just because".  

I created a 2 page layout with Notably Ornate for one of my monthly Scrapbook Club meetings.   I went for a classic color scheme of red, black, and vanilla for a "timeless" look.  On this 2 page layout, the rubberstamp set Notably Ornate is retiring as well as the Timeless Type Junior Alphabet Big Shot Die Set.  I have used these letters on LOTS of scrapbook pages.

I was almost shocked to see the Medallion stamp on the Stampin' Up! Retired List.  I have made so many gorgeous handmade cards with this rubberstamp, many of them in just minutes! Fifth Avenue Floral Mother's Day Card

My handmade Mother's Day card for this year uses the Stampin' Up! Retired List Fifth Avenue Floral stamp set.  I have loved this rubber stamp set for its great versatility and incredible beauty.  Here, I have used the large rose image as my focal point with the "watercolor spread" technique.  This fun technique combines heat embossing with watercoloring for a fun, quick technique that produces unique roses.  No two are alike...just like real roses!

As this is my inspirational Sunday post on this special day to honor Mothers, I was privileged to share the Word of God with my church family this morning at Tower City Church.  I delivered a message on motherhood, looking at 3 mothers in the Bible:  Eve, Deborah, and the Canaanite Woman (Matthew 15).  God calls us as women to not only deliver and raise our own children but also to "spread our wings" over others around us.  Deborah is called a "mother in Israel."  She didn't actually birth all of Israel, but she acted as a mother in her community, seeing the potential in others and spurring them into their God-given destiny.

I thank God for my own mother today as well as the wonderful mother my daughter is to my grandchildren.  But I also look beyond my natural family and thank God for the women who have modeled godly motherhood to me, some from afar, some by books they have written, all with great wisdom.  And I look to reach beyond my own family (as precious and dear as they are) to affect and influence others for the Kingdom of God.  Judges tells us that Deborah "arose as a mother in Israel."  I arise in my calling to "mother" many by caring, loving, nurturing, encouraging, and praying--as only a mother can--for those God brings to me.  Let us, as women, arise into the great destiny God has for us, and help many others come into theirs as well.  God has a plan for my life and yours; it's a good plan.  Let's share that good news--that He has a good plan for those around us, as well.  And let's help them find it.

Saturday Sample: Leaves # 2 Die and Bright Blessings Wheel

For today's Saturday Sample, here's an autumn flavored card featuring Bright Blessings wheel and the Leaves #2 Die.  All month, I'm celebrating the Stampin' Up! Retired List by showing projects using Retired Products.  These products are only available through May 31st, and some are only available while supplies last.

I have used Bright Blessings wheel and Leaves #2 Die together for soooo many Thanksgiving projects!  They seem to just go together.  From handmade cards like this to table favors to teacher gifts to centerpieces to placecards to scrapbook pages, the possibilities just keep going!  But they are both incredibly versatile papercrafting tools on their own.  I've made Inspirational cards with some of the many great sayings on the Bright Blessings wheel.  I particularly like, "Blessings brighten when we count them" (because they do!) and "In everything give thanks" because it is a great snippet of scripture (1 Thessalonians 5:18).  And the Leaves #2 Die spans the seasons!  I especially love to texture the leaves with an embossing folder - as shown above - and scatter them on a table or across scrapbook pages.

I created these cards using Awash with Flowers and a color scheme of Daffodil Delight, Very Vanilla, Basic Black, and Basic Gray for a card class last year.  I love the classic color scheme, and Awash with Flowers brings a garden full of sunshiney color to my cards!

Matchbox Die Purse

For today's Saturday Sample, here is a little Matchbox Die purse I created as a Make & Take for a stamping party I did for a group of 31 Gifts consultants.  All the ladies had loads of fun making these cute little bags--paper versions of what they sell!  And this mini handbag fits perfectly into my theme of projects this month using Stampin' Up! retired list items.

Every single thing on this little project is retiring!  I'll list the supplies for you below, but I wanted to point out that the Matchbox Die has 3 tags on the die in addition to the darling little box.  I used 2 of the 3 tags on my mini handbag, one as the "buckle" and one as the little "designer tag".  This is lots of fun to make!  It's a perfect little favor for so many different occasions.  And since it's a matchbox, you can make it masculine or feminine, depending on the little touches you add and the colors and papers you choose.

I will really miss the Medium Square Envelopes as I enjoy making the larger card size for extra-special occasions or when I have a lot I want to write on the inside of a card.  Being a "chattty Cathy," that is quite often:)  We will be making one of these larger square cards next week in my stamp clubs with the retiring Friends Never Fade stamp set.  Stay tuned, as I'll share that card next week!

Flower Fest

This beautiful handmade card featuring retiring stamp sets Flower Fest and Oval All as well as two of our retiring In Colors, Poppy Parade and Pear Pizzazz, was created by my swapping buddy Cathy Somody.  Isn't it gorgeous?  These colors and stamp sets are retiring at the end of this month.
