I can tell you that I am the happy recipient of one of these darling fabric business card holders.  It's one of the many handmade Christmas gifts Tiffany gave me this year, and I love it!  I use the two

 

pockets to hold my own business cards as well as those for my sons' restaurant (The Granary 'Cue and Brew).  I was always scrambling for those and am so happy to have a place for them now!  The fact that it is pretty and colorful makes it easy to find in my purse and makes me proud to whip it out when getting business cards to share:)

Stampin' Up! Apron

It's Friday, and that means my daughter Tiffany and guest blogger is back with another Stampin' Up! fabric project.  You can catch her regularly on her own blog:  handydandyhelper.blogspot.com where she blogs about life, living crunchy, raising kids, crafting, and living life to the fullest!

 

I love aprons and so when I originally saw the Stampin' Up! apron tutorial (with an adult & youth sizing option!) I was determined to try it out!

So, with handmade Christmas gifts on the docket this past year, I was able to get one completed- loved it!

 

I made this for my daughter Leyla whose favorite color is orange.  The orange fabric is from a local fabric store, and the contrasting brown fabric is part of the Holly Berry Bouquet Stampin' Up! fabric collection of 3 fat quarters.  Although the fat quarters are part of a holiday collection, such is the versatility of Stampin' Up! fabric that I can use it for a non-holiday project...given for Christmas!  The fact that it is in the Clearance Rack means the price tag perfectly fits my budget:)

Tiffany:  In my mad dash to finish handmade Christmas gifts for the entire family this year, I found myself up late Christmas Eve, desperately trying to finish something for my best friend, my Mom. The problem was that I kept changing my mind &/or adding more things to do!  And since I was flying in mulitple directions, misjudged my energy level & supplies, I wasn't able to finish (cringe) and thus it is just now being delivered!

So what is it?

                                       

I hatched a plan to DIY a bulletin board, customized with Stampin' Up! fabric & accessories, perfect to showcase notes, cards etc... and I made custom pushpins with the Antique brads.

 Here is my Friday guest blogger, my daughter Tiffany (handydandyhelper.blogspot.com)!

I wanted to share these little gems since they're a great accessory for our current winter wonderland:)  I whipped these up for Livy, my 2-1/2 year old, in just a few minutes and she loves them!

I started with dollar store barrettes that I actually really like, and more importantly, so does Livy:)  Next I took some scraps of my Candy Cane Lane fabric (#121715 in the Stampin' Up! Clearance Rack for $.99!), cut circles using the Big Shot and hand sewed a running stitch (thread color doesn't matter as it will be hidden!) around the perimeter.  Then, cinch and tie off- you now have a "yoyo".  Next thread a coordinating Stampin' Up! button (or use a rhinestone!) and hot glue it to the center of the fabric "yoyo"- attach piece to barrette with hot glue and you're done! 

This project is so easy & the sky is the limit for designs and quantities- I've made almost a dozen of these, transforming something common to couture for pennies and minutes!  That fits my budgets for both time and money:)

My guest blogger today is my daughter Tiffany (handydandyhelper.blogspot.com).  She is becoming a Friday regular!  

I recenty spied a travel book caddy on Pinterest and decided to whip one up this week to accompany my handmade Christmas fishies for my little M's to open Christmas morning:)  I thought it would make a great Stampin' Up! fabric project!

This project was a wonderful way to showcase multiple Stampin' Up! fabrics (normally sold in sets  of 3 coordinating extra large fat quarters), ribbon & buttons!  I opted for the Sew Suite (#121818 on the Stampin' Up! Clearance Rack for just $.99!) & Essentials Designer (#126892 set of 10 extra wide fat quarters) fabrics with corresponding 'notions' from the clearance rack:)  I love the ease of coordination with Stampin' Up! fabric and embellishments.  The ribbons, buttons, and fabric work together beautifully AND I don't have to put the kids in the car and then corral them while I shop.  Win, win!

Big Shot Holiday Stocking Die

Here are two little denim Christmas stockings I created last year using the Stampin' Up! exclusive Big Shot Holiday Stocking Bigz L Die.  They are a his and hers country style pair of Christmas stockings that measure 5-1/2" x 4-3/4" and are very easy to make.  These are no-sew Stampin' Up! fabric projects, so they are quick and easy.

Because the Holiday Stocking Die is a Bigz Die, it will cut many different materials.  Notice the leather on both stockings above.  I had some leather scraps and thought I would try them out on the Big Shot.  I was elated with the results!  The denim came from an old pair of jeans, so they have an authentic, worn look.  And the jeans were headed to Good Will.  Instead, I decided to put them into my scrap bin and repurpose them. I adhered the front and back of these denim Christmas stockings with fabric glue and also attached the leather cuffs and trim that way.  Super easy and no sewing!

The trims are also from Stampin' Up!  The lace is the 5/8" Crochet trim (118481) and the holly leaves and snowflake are the Winter Wishes Stitched Felt pieces from last year's Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalog.  Although they are retired, they are still available in the Stampin' Up! Clearance rack!  You get 16 pieces for just $3.99!

Today, I have this gorgeous Candy Cane Lane Wreath, mady by my daughter Tiffany (handydandyhelper.blogspot.com).  She is my guest blogger today and will tell you all about it!  This is a fantastic Stampin' Up! fabric project!

You might recognize this project from Stampin' Up!- it was featured in the booklet of designs & ideas for the fat quarter trios two years ago when Stampin' Up! fabric was introduced .  The Stampin' Up! instructions are very clear , so even if this is your first wreath project (like me!), with just a few tweaks for difference in scale (mine is considerably larger), it came together beautifully!  The instructions come as part of the Candy Cane Lane fat quarters; they are in the package.

 

I love how all 3 fat quarter prints from the Candy Cane Lane Fabric trio are showcased in this wreath and of course lots of buttons- what's not to love?

On Fridays, I normally feature Stampin' Up! fabric projects or scrapbooking.  Today, I'm sharing these darling Paper Snips Holders I received for my birthday (October 31st!).  My daughter Tiffany (handydandyhelper.blogspot.com) made these for me, and I truly love them!  Not only are they super cute, they are truly functional as well. (Sorry about the bad lighting on my photo.  I use natural light photography and am having to get used to the lack of daylight now that we are off Daylight Savings Time.  As a result, I took this shot with a lamp:(

Stampin' Up! Paper Snips (#103579) are the best small scissors I have ever had, and I've had a lot of small scissors.  I was a stitcher before I became a stamper...but that's another story.  Anyway, I've owned lots of scissors, and Stampin' Up! Paper Snips are not only fabulous performance-wise, they are a bargain at just $9.95.  Although they are extremely affordable, I also like to take care of my fantastic tools, so I don't like the scissor tips just left open, bumping up against other things, getting dinged up and/or bent.  Enter:  the Paper Snips Holder, Stampin' Up! fabric project!

Candy Cane Fishies-Stampin' Up! Fabric Project

Today begins what will become a regular feature on my sweetstamper blog:  a guest blogger.  My daughter Tiffany is a great blogger in her own right, and I'm thrilled she will be sharing here several times a month.  Without further adieu, here she is!

Thank you, Sweetstamper aka Mom, for allowing me to share a fun Stampin' Up! fabric project with you all today!  For those that don't know me personally, I'm a very happy, stay-at-home Mom to a 1 & 2 y/o boy & girl that keep me running:)  I love card making, scrapbooking and paper crafting, but I recently entered the world of sewing and other fabric projects- mind you, as a total novice!

I love Stampin' Up! fabric but initially wasn't too sure what to do with it- relating yet?  So today, I'm sharing a fun kids project perfect for this season's gift giving extravaganza!  And it's so easy!

As my family are exchanging handmade gifts this holiday season, I began browsing for ideas for my little ones and came across a simple tutorial on making felted fish- perfect!  I immediately went to my growing fabric stash and looked for something "fishy"- I opted for the white polka dot print from the Candy Cane Lane fabric trio of fat quarters as it reminded me of fish scales:)

I followed the tutorial and printed out the templates with no problems- an older child could easily help in this kids project too. Below are some pics & tips to help you along the way!

TIP: Though I didn't bother to prewash my Stampin' Up!fabric, I did iron to ensure my fish weren't wrinkled:)

TIP: I used craft felt but the sparkly kind which is thicker and easier to cut and sew as it's stiff- the glitter also makes the fish look as though they've come straight from the water:)

TIP: When turning your fish inside out (after stitching) grab the fish's mouth and pull back through the base, slowly so as not to bust your stitches!  Have patience:)

TIP: Instead of the yarn used in the original tutorial, I opted for a nylon cord found by the leather & jewlery supplies at Hobby Lobby- wanted something extra strong to withstand the exuberant play these fish will receive from my toddlers!

TIP: I cut the Velcro eyes using the Big Shot to make them uniform & yes, it was late at night once these were finished, thus the poor lighting!

One fishing pole, one anchor and 8 fish later, this was hands-down, one of my favorite projects completed thus far & it's sure to bring hours of fun and imaginative play for my toddlers:)

• Felt & Batting= $1 (I had most of it on hand already)
• Fabric= $0.33 (Candy Cane Lane is on the clearance rack!)
• Dowel & Velcro= $1.15

Stampin' Up! Fabric Projects

My daughter Tiffany has discovered Stampin' Up! fabric projects, and is approaching them with her usual no-holds-barred enthusiasm.  Somehow, she makes time to enjoy creativity while raising a 1 year old and 2 year old.  (Did I mention that both my toddler grandchildren are extremely active?  The kind where you don't turn your head for a moment???!!!)  Tiffany also has a darling blog (handydandyhelper.blogspot.com) that I encourage you to follow.  I do!  

In actuality, Tiffany has embraced fabric projects of all types--as long as they are quick and easy to go with her busy life.  She uses Stampin' Up! products whenever possible because she knows the fabulous quality.  And she shops our clearance rack for the quality AND the affordabilty.

I'm usually pretty restrained in sharing Gramma photos as I know that my grandchildren are far more interesting to me than anyone else.  But I'm going to share a couple here since they sorta go with this blog post on Stampin' Up! fabric projects.  Stay with me here on my associations!

Here, Jonah and Livy are playing in Jonah's room.  Jonah looks so much like my Alex at this age, it's pretty amazing.  He is a happy boy!

Stampin' Up! Fabric Projects-Twitterpated!

My daughter Tiffany is at it again with Stampin' Up! Fabric Projects, this time using Twitterpated Fabric (item #125412).  She embellished this plain school uniform dress for my granddaughter and made it look so cute!  The dress was on Land's End's Clearance Rack at a barg ain price, and Tiffany often buys a size or two (or 3 or 4!) ahead so she is never left with no clothes that fit rapidly growing children.  So this dress is still a bit big.  Tiffany also buys birthday and Christmas gifts up to a year ahead!  But more about that another time:)

Olivia is seen here modeling her dress embellished with Stampin' Up!'s Twitterpated Fabric and Stampin' Up! buttons .  Tiffany assured me that the choice of shoes was Olivia's, not Tiffany's:)  They both love shoes, but Olivia is still learning to get the shoe style to match the outfit.  She has started young with her love for shoes, and I can assure you that apple did not fall far from the tree.

There is very little sewing on this Stampin' Up! fabric project.  Tiffany left the edge of the ruffle raw so it can rag as it is washed.  A simple running stitch was run through the length of fabric (I think she sewed 2 lengths together to get it long enough), and then it was gathered and sewn onto the dress.  That's it for the ruffle.  

The flowers are cut out with the Big Shot using the Fun Flowers die.  Simple, fun, cute!  I love that you can cut 8 layers of fabric at once on the Big Shot.  Quick and easy!  I'm so proud of Tiffany for her creativity...and for getting projects planned, prepped and FINISHED with 2 children, ages 1 and 2., under foot...and sewing machine and papercrafting projects and cooking, etc.  My hat is off to her!  Tiffany is blogging her experience of being a very creative SAHM on a shoestring budget.  Follow her at:  http://www.handydandyhelper.blogspot.com/.  I subscribe to her blog so I don't miss anything!  You will laugh, learn, and be inspired.  There is also lots more detail of this Stampin' Up! fabric project and other creative projects Tiffany has been whipping up.

Stampin' Up! Fabric Projects-Sandals for Livy

My daughter Tiffany made these darling sandals for Livy using Stampin' Up! ribbons and fabric-covered brads.  She found these items in the Stampin' Up! Tiffany has always been a "shoe girl" meaning she has more shoes in her closet than anything else!  Of course, she comes by this naturally...from her father!  My husband has great taste in most everything, shoes being no exception.  And he has quite the collection.  Tiffany has always loved shoes, and her daddy rather encouraged that.  Now Livy is already a shoe-aholic.  She loves her shoes!  Even when she was still crawling, she managed to find the sparkliest pair of shoes at Kid to Kid (a fantastic kids resale shop here in San Antonio) and tried to put them on her feet.  

These cute orange sandals bring smiles to Livy:)  And isn't that what we all want with our handmade creations?  We want to bring smiles to the faces of those we love.  That's why we love to create.  It pleases us as we create, but it pleases us even more when we give our creations away and they bring smiles.  Addicting!  In a good way:)

Stampin' Up! Fabric Project-Flirtatious Fabric

Well, I thought these pics were too cute to keep to myself, so here is my sweet Olivia in her Stampin' Up! Fabric embellished dress and hair clip, featuring the very girly Flirtatious Fabric.

These are all made by my very talented and resourceful daughter Tiffany. Check out her blog here (handydandyhelper.blogspot.com) where she shares her journey of being a creative SAHM on an extremely tight budget.  Tiffany ended up making several different hair clips using Stampin' Up! fabric, ribbons, and buttons.  When I was a SAHM with young children and sewing up a storm, I would have given anything to have had access to Stampin' Up! quality fabrics and trims.  Having them delivered to my doorstep would have been the icing on the cake:)  History is soooo repeating itself as my first 2 children are 15 months apart and so are Tiffany's.  Getting two toddlers out the door and then shopping while remaining sane can be a daily challenge!

Tiffany has enjoyed papercrafting for many years but never dabbled in sewing or fabrics in any way.  We began a sewing group at our church, Tower City Church, early this year, and Tiffany has embraced sewing with gusto!  At present, we are sharing my sewing machine, and Tiffany has been embellishing things as well as making a few simple items.  Stampin' Up! fabric projects have been flying out the door!  Tiffany has purchased several of our current fabrics like the Flirtatious fabric shown here.  But there were several retired fabrics on the Stampin' Up! Clearance Rack for awhile, and she scooped up many of them, making her projects cost just peanuts.

I love the fact that Tiffany found a way to enjoy sewing without having to make an entire garment.  By purchasing this cute, plain white tunic from Land's End (from their clearance rack:), she was able to create a very custom dress for Livy without spending a lot of money or time.  This is a recipe for success for busy moms.  

Livy loves the patchwork ruffles on her dress and the fact that her dress twirls when she swings back and forth.  These photos were taken on Sunday, and Livy (aka Peanut:) came through the door of Tower City Church with lots of confidence.

Stampin' Up! Fabric Projects...Again!

Today I'm sharing more Stampin' Up! fabric projects by way of Artisan Award entries shown at Stampin' Up! 

Convention.  Stampin' Up! has an Artisan Award that is given each year, and the entries were on display at Stampin' Up! Convention last week.  I think there were 6-8 winners, and each receives a hefty Stampin' Up! shopping spree as well as some fun "design assignments" to complete throughout the Stampin' Up! year, showcased on a special blog.  These ladies are so creative and talented.  Love their ideas!

Every single Stampin' Up! fabric project on this display is stinkin' cute!  Love the mini ironing board!  Wouldn't that be cute in the laundry room?!  I mean, it might even make folding laundry somewhat enjoyable:)  The artist took clothespins and covered them with the gorgeous pleated satin ribbon that was in the Occasions Mini Catalog earlier this year.  So pretty!

I love the fact that every single Stampin' Up! fabric comes in a set of fat quarters.  That means that we get this gorgeous coordination of colors and patterns.  Look at the way it all just goes together!  

 Being a Gramma, I love the dressed up kids clothes.  This is such a cute way to dress up a plain white top.  
My daughter has been making some darling Stampin' Up! fabric projects for my granddaughter Olivia.  I posted pics here, and there are more to come very soon!  Tiffany has a great blog (Handy Dandy Helper) where she posts about life and being a young mom.  She has caught the sewing bug in a big way, so she has lots of plans in that direction, and I am cheering her on.  

I don't know about you, but Tiffany's and my time is at a premium, and the last thing we need is to spend 3 hours in JoAnn Fabrics tracking down fabrics that coordinate with one another.  With that kind of time investment, even simple projects become very labor-intensive.  At my stage of life--and at Tiffany's (kinda opposite ends of the child-rearing continuum:), we are looking for quick and easy.  Now just because we want quick and easy does NOT mean we want something that looks slapped together.  Quite the opposite!  Our standards are high:  We want quick and easy AND gorgeous:)

Stampin' Up! Fabric Projects

 
This is a combined "gramma brag" and Stampin' Up! fabric projects post.  I have warned you!  My very creative, resourceful and super-talented daughter Tiffany is a SAHM with Jonah who turns 1 next month and Olivia who just turned 2.  Life is never dull in her household!  Jonah and Livy are both very active (and very cute!) children.  Tiffany says she can't seem to beg, borrow or steal a quiet child!  LOL.  Alas, mine were the same, noisy and active:)  I guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.  Anyway, Tiffany still finds time...actually MAKES time to fulfill her creativity.  With two very young children, there is NO spare time, but I find that I have no spare time either, and I'm an empty nester.  We just have to MAKE time for what we really want to do.  We have to carve it out of our weeks.  And Tiffany finds that making something fun is very rewarding and feeds her soul in a unique way.  

So by doing something she really loves, crafting, she ends up being very fulfilled and makes wonderful things for her family, friends, and home that would cost lots of money (and not be as much fun!) that she does not have at present.  Tiffany loves the quality of Stampin' Up! products for her paper crafting projects but also for her many fabric projects.  This little dress for Livy is a great example.

Tiffany used the Stampin' Up! Flirtatious fabric--all the Stampin' Up! fabrics come in sets of 3 large fat quarters.  The fabric sets are already matched for you, so you don't have to spend countless hours in the fabric store deciding which print goes with which other print.  Nice!  She made a patchwork ruffle by cutting 4" squares of fabric, joining them together, hemming one long end, and then gathering them into a ruffle.  She then used the 3" Circle Big Shot Die to create circles for the little yo-yo embellishments.  I love how you can take 8 layers of our Stampin' Up! fabric, lay it on the die, run it through the Big Shot and, Voila!, you have 8 perfect circles!  Of course, Tiffany's Stampin' Up! fabric project did not end with the Flirtatious Fabric.  Check out the Wisteria Wonder 3/8" Ruffled Ribbon she sewed all around the bodice, leaving a little tie in the back to make this dress a bit more girly and to bring out that gorgeous lavender even more.  The Subtles Designer Buttons, filling the yo-yo's, bring the Stampin' Up! color coordination all the way through.  

 Livy's dress was found in the Lands' End Clearance section.  Lands' End has fantastic quality, and we have shopped them for years--mostly in the sale and clearance section.  I dressed Tiffany in Lands' End as a young girl, and she is carrying on the tradition with her kids!  She transformed a plain white tunic into a darling designer dress on a shoestring budget.  A dress with this type of custom embellishment would cost big bucks in a boutique.   Livy wore this to church yesterday, and I'll get another photo of the cute little yo-yo barrette Tiffany made for her to finish the outfit with even more Flirtatious fabric pizzazz:)  In the photo above, she has an equally cute barrette made by simply using hot glue to attach a Stampin' Up! button.
