Scrapbooking-First Halloween

I'm using my free scrapbook class pages for scrapbooking Olivia's first Halloween and really like the way they came out.  These are the pages we made in our October class, and you can see the full supply list here.

These were fun pages to make, and I love being able to just pop in my photos!  I had a great time during our free scrapbooking class in San Antonio visiting with other scrapbookers, catching up on news and such, and being creative.  

If you look closely at my stamped cauldron (from Toxic Treats rubberstamp set), there is a sparkly, squiqqly line above the bubbles.  I actually stamped the cauldron and ended up with some "overhang" from my stamp.  This happens sometimes with a new stamp set--one I haven't yet used--when I mash too hard with the rubberstamp:)  I am a masher by nature, pressing down way too hard.  Anyway, when you press too hard, you often catch the excess rubber on the rubberstamp.  Solution:  trim the stamp with Craft & Rubber scissors.  I trimmed this stamp AFTER I used it.  But rather than turning over my page and re-stamping, I decided to cover my tracks with glitter!  The Dazzling Details is so easy to use, and glitter covers a multitude of sins!

Halloween Treats Stampin' Up! Style

One of the things I love about Stampin' Up! products is the way I can take something very, very simple--like candy corn--and make it special.  What do you think about my Halloween treats all done up in Stampin' Up! style?  This little treat is super-simple to reproduce and will make someone's day when you give it away:)  Here are some folks who would love to receive this little Halloween treat:

Pocket Card for Halloween

Is this Pocket Card for Halloween cute, or what?  I received this darling Halloween card at Stampin' Up! Convention as a swap.  It features the fabulous Googly Ghouls and Monster Munchies rubberstamp sets and the amazing Howlstooth & Scaringbone Designer Series Paper.  I adore this dsp:)

Here's how a pocket card works:  you create a pocket and then pull out the card insides, or in this case, the invitation.  Pocket cards have been around for quite a while.  They are a fun way to deliver a special invitation or other message.  

The other element I really love on this Halloween card is the 1/2" Striped Satin Ribbon, another Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalog item that is both fresh and classic.  I love it!  I used it on some Halloween scrapbook pages that I will show you on Friday (my normal day for scrapbooking features), so stay tuned!

SUDSOL Blog Tour

As part of the 10th SUDSOL (Simply Unique Demonstrators Sharing Online) Blog Tour, I'm so happy to share some fall projects with you today!  Although I'm a Christmas junkie, I have discovered that if I pace myself and savor fall, my favorite season, I enjoy my holidays even more.  So I'm working to get all I can out of fall!

Holiday Catalog, shown here!  Its gorgeous plaids and wonderfully vibrant color scheme make it a natural for masculine cards.  The plaids remind me of beautiful wool fabrics, men's ties, designer handbags, and more.  Paired with fall leaves and an acorn cut from the new Big Shot Autumn Accents Die and a simple message from Full of Blessings stamp set, this card comes together quickly with lots and lots of touchable texture.

This card features the Full of Blessings stamp set from the Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalog which I love and have made numerous projects with.  Scroll down to previous posts for more Full of Blessings stamp set projects.  Here I used the new Early Espresso Embossing Powder, which I love, as well as the new Woodgrain Embossing Folder and cute little acorn from the Big Shot Autumn Accents Die.  Talk about touchable texture!  The Woodgrain Embossing Folder creates deep dry embossing that begs to be touched.  

My last project is a 3D project, a little treat holder for Halloween featuring the Mixed Medley hostess set and 1-1/4" Scallop Circle Punch (a mini scallop:), and Silver Dazzling Details (love it!!!) from the Stampin' Up! Happy Halloween--and here's another great handmade card using Howl-o-Ween Creeps from my swap stash.  (I swap with some fabulous stampers:) This cute stamp set is in the Holiday Mini Catalog, and even if you haven't purchased it yet, there is still time to get it to tuck away for next year.

We are finally here on this much-anticipated day!  I hope you have plans for a fun day/evening.  My grandkids and granddogs are all coming to my house tonight in costume.  It will be a great photo op!  I can't wait to see them!

Great Day SA

Gail and I had a blast this morning doing live TV on Great Day SA!  What a wonderful set of crew, staff, and presenters we encountered at KENS 5!  Paul was a fantastic interviewer and really put us at ease.  It was great to see the "inside" workings of a local TV show that works hard at keeping us all connected here in the San Antonio area.  You can catch it here on the KENS5 website under Great Day SA.

Halloween Treat Bag

Gift Givers Stamp Set

Have you seen the new Gift Givers stamp set from the Holiday Mini Catalog?  It has 7 stamp images, each fitting into a different punch.  I love the stamp sets that have coordinating punches--they make fun, easy work of putting together handmade cards, tags, scrapbook elements and more!

This darling Halloween card is a swap I received recently and is made by Gail Beezely, my stamp camp partner (stampcamping.com).  The beautiful stamp is enhanced by some Spice Cake DSP, a little dry embossing with the new Houndstooth Embossing Folder, some Regals Collection Brads, and an amazing job of Paper Piecing.  What is Paper Piecing?  It's a technique whereby you stamp an image on paper, in this case some Brights Collection DSP (the polka dotted pattern) and then cut it out and stick it to the place where you already stamped the image.  It's a bit like applique...but with paper.  You will know applique if you have done sewing or if you are just a fan of that look.  Anyway, Gail stamped the image on Vanilla Card Stock and punched it out, then stamped it again on the polka dotted paper.  She cut out the collection of pumpkins on the polka dotted paper and adhered them to the punched out image.  Pretty cool, huh?  Click on the card photo to get a closer look.
