Wordplay-Retiring from Stampin' Up!

I have loved the Wordplay rubberstamp set, and it is on the Stampin' Up! Retiring List.  If you don't yet own this rubberstamp set, I urge you to get it now!  Talk about versatile!  

I've been highlighting the Stampin' Up! retiring colors here on my blog.  But today, I'm highlighting a retiring stamp set in a color that will remain with us.  Hope that's not confusing!  I wanted to share this set of 3 handmade cards we made at my stamp camp this past weekend.  We had a blast making 15 handmade cards, each with 3 different options for the greetings.  I love, love, love customization and strive to provide that at my events.  My stamp camp guests had the option of making one of each, or all 3 the same--whatever best suited their needs.

Wordplay rubberstamp set was an easy stamp set to use when offering greeting options.  The three different versions of this handmade card also have different embellishments by way of stamps in the bottle caps (Collage Curios rubberstamp set from the Stampin' Up! Spring Catalog).  These handmade cards can be used as masculine cards, but they are really gender neutral.  Men and women would both love to receive these gorgeous handmade cards with a simple color scheme of Pool Party, Basic Black, and Very Vanilla.  Special embellishments and background bring just enough enhancement to make our Wordplay greetings really shine:)

As I continue to feature some of our retiring colors, part of the Stampin' Up! Color Refresh, I want to share with you this sweet, girly handmade card featuring Henry Says (Stampin' Up! Spring Catalog) and Pretty in Pink which is retiring.  Once again, I employed a favorite color scheme:  Pretty in Pink, Crumb Cake, and Chocolate Chip with a bit of Melon Mambo thrown in.  For another handmade card using the same color scheme, scroll down a few posts.

This handmade card is super-fun to make and would be perfect for a young girl's birthday or for any girl who is young at heart.  The youthful and feminine touches say, very loudly, "This is a girly girl card!" The Signo White Gel pen is the tool employed for making all the polka dots as well as for making the elephant's fingernails white.  It's a bit of a french manicure for my elephant:)

For today's Saturday Sample, here's a handmade Mother's Day Card I created with the lovely new Stampin' Up! Spring Catalog Your'e Amazing rubberstamp set.  For this handmade Mother's Day card I wanted a very feminine color palette and a mix of old and new styles.  So I chose the argyle patterned paper (Patio Party DSP) and Paper Doilies as my "classic" design elements and then added the bottle cap for a decidedly modern element.  I love the mix of old and new!

Although this handmade Mother's Day card has lots of special touches and looks like it took loads of time to make it, it's actually quite simple.  I like that--kinda quick but looking like it took hours:)  All that is possible with Stampin' Up!'s amazing, award-winning coordinated products.

Happy Easter!  For today's post, here are my Stampin' Up! Easter projects for this year, 2013.  The little flower pot and basket are gracing my dining table as my family celebrates Easter dinner.  They are perfectly sized centerpieces as there is still plenty of room for the big spread of food, and nothing is so tall that it will obstruct the view of family members as we enjoy one another's company and share God's goodness over dinner, conversation, and celebration.  My Stampin' Up! Easter projects feature several new products from the Stampin' Up! Spring Catalog and my favorite tool ever, the Big Shot!

I modeled the Easter basket after a similar basket made by Shelli Gardner with the Petal Cone Die about 2 years ago.  I saw it on her blog and was totally inspired to make a similar one but bring it into my Easter theme.  You can see her creation here.  I wanted the cross to be front and center of my Easter basket.  It's the center of Easter, so I wanted it central in my design.  And the egg in my flower pot is embossed in gold, like the cross on my little basket.  I was going for an elegant look.  Summer Starfruit and gold embossing with accents of white were just the ticket!

Spring Catalog has the darling Pinwheel die(129411), shown here, to help you make little, mini pinwheels effortlessly to adorn your handmade cards, scrapbook pages, party favors and more with the freshness embodied in pinwheels.  They evoke fresh air, blue skies, soft breezes, and relaxation.  What's not to like?!

The sky on this very cute handmade card was created by making a little cloud template.  Simply punch out a couple scallop circle punches, stick them together to make a cloud formation, and then place on your Whisper White card base and start sponging.  This is great for scrapbook pages, too!

Saturday Sample - Sale-a-Bration

This beautiful handmade card featuring Secret Garden rubberstamp set is in my favorite present In Color (Summer Starfruit, baby!) and was made by one of my Southern Sweet Stampers (demonstrator group) named Elisha.  Isn't it lovely!  I love what Elisha did with this and am delighted to be able to share it with you.  

The Secret Garden Bundle (13110 wood mount, 131099 clear mount) is part of the Stampin' Up! Spring Catalog, and it's one of the money saving bundles Stampin' Up! offers where you get 15% off by purchasing the two items together:  rubberstamp set and coordinating framelits.  Although you can have one without the other, why would you?!!  As you can see in Elisha's handmade card, the framelits make quick, easy work of cutting out those heat embossed flowers, allowing you to scatter them as you wish across your card without spending lots of time cutting out. I think a handmade sympathy card is one of the nicest expressions of condolence one can give.  After the fresh flowers have wilted and been thrown away, after all the family and friends have gone home, after all the funeral arrangements have been sorted out and the loved one is buried or cremated, the cards remain.  They can be read again and again, bringing comfort each time they are read.  With handmade sympathy cards, they are treasured for their unique beauty and extra love and care that is obvious in the handmade card itself as well as the comforting words inside.  It's the occasion in one's life when going the extra mile is appreciated more than ever.

Saturday Sample - For the Birds

For today's Saturday Sample, here's a handmade card I previously made using For the Birds rubberstamp set (#126405 wood, #126407 clear)  but changed up a bit, adding some more feminine touches.  I simply love the new Tea Lace Paper Doilies (#129399) in the Stampin Up! Spring Catalog!  Whether you add just a bit of one like I did here or use a whole one, they add a bit of femininity.  It's that touch of lace!  On top of that, you can sponge them to add color (check out my Sunday Inspirational Post here tomorrow to see a thoroughly sponged and antiqued Tea Lace Paper Doily), add some glitter (also in tomorrow's post:), and just change their look completely from modern to vintage, from sweet to sophisticated.  

The other little details that brought a bit of femininity to my bold color scheme is the addition of the smallest button in the Brights Collection Designer Buttons.  You get several sizes and shapes of buttons in each color when you get these buttons, and I love that because different buttons will bring a different look to your project.

Core'dinations Cardstock

I really love the Core'dinations cardstock and its many wonders!  Today I'm sharing a quick and easy card made special by Core'dinations cardstock.  In the Stampin' Up! Spring Catalog, Core'dinations Cardstock is available in Pool Party, Primrose Petals (shown here), and Real Red.  

My finger is in this photo because I find photographing glitter very challenging!  It's hard to get all that dazzle to really show up in my pictures, and Dazzling Diamonds glitter really does dazzle with its sparkly wonderfulness:)  Here, it brought just the right touch to my Flower Garden Embossing Folder flowers.

The main feature of Core'dinations cardstock is its unique ability to be sanded.  For the handmade card shown here, I ran the Primrose Petals Core'dinations cardstock through the Big Shot with the Flower Garden Embossing Folder and then sanded it to achieve the two-tone look that really brings the dry embossed image to a whole new level.  That is the beauty of Core'dinations cardstock!  (Scroll down for a full supply list.)

Since Core'dinations cardstock is 12 x 12, they make perfect scrapbook pages.  They are a bit like the Textured Cardstock we used to have, but they are not as heavily textured--which makes stamping on them easier--and of course they have a light colored core, which is the major point of the Core'dinations.  But I just wanted to point out that you can easily use this cardstock as is.  Since we cannot purchase Pool Party or Primrose Petals 12 x 12 cardstock alone (they are both In-Colors so they come in assorted packages), the Core-dinations provides a way to get those colors in bulk:)  I like it!

In the Stampin' Up! Spring Catalog, there is a gorgeous, single, very large rubberstamp called Swallowtail.  I am privileged to regularly swap with some super-talented Stampin' Up! Demonstrators, and my swap partner Dorie made this gorgeous handstamped card featuring the Swallowtail rubberstamp that is my Saturday Sample today.

I think the Stampin' Up! Swallowtail rubberstamp is very versatile as it lends itself to very "artsy" cards like this one but also works well in simpler designs.  I love Dorie's color scheme as well as her snazzy paper bow!  And the embossed butterfly...well, it's simply gorgeous.  I'm not sure if it is showing up in the photo, but the iridescent ice embossing powder puts an amazing shimmer on this swallowtail.

I am loving the Silver Designer Buttons in the Stampin' Up! Spring Catalog, and for today's share, I paired one up with the lovely Patterned Party stamp set to create a masculine card.  The other element I love on this card that works great for masculine cards is the Window Frames Collection of Framelits, also in the Stampin' Up! Spring Catalog.  If you need a larger view of the card, just click on it and you will see it in full-screen view.

I was thrilled to discover that the argyle strip in the Patterned Party stamp set fits perfectly into the Window Frame!  Then I discovered that the pennant banner from Patterned Party stamp set fits perfectly into the Window Frame!  That makes for easy design work:)  Score!  I have said it numerous times now, but I do love Summer Starfruit.  It's almost a neutral, and it is another great element for masculine cards.

Stampin' Up! Spring Catalog Sneak Peek

Well, Christmas 2012 is a wrap and we are in a brand new year, so I'm sharing with you today a Stampin' Up! Spring Catalog sneak peek.  (It goes live January 3rd!)  I've been working on lots of fresh designs to go along with the gorgeous new offerings in the Stampin' Up! Spring Catalog.  

I've used several brand new products in this handstamped card.  The large "You're Such an Amazing..." images are from the new Amazing Family stamp set.  It has the "You're Such an Amazing" stamp plus one each that has

Send Me Soaring - Masculine Card

 For today's Saturday Sample, Send Me Soaring is out-of-the box different AND making a great masculine card!  I never would have thought to use the kites like this, but I think they make a great pattern that begs to be reproduced!  This is a card I received from one of my swap buddies, Bobbie Ganley, and I love the bold geometric shapes and color scheme.  Kites are really just diamond shapes, so the sky is the limit (no pun intended:) on those design options.  Don't you also love the new In Colors in this card:  Island Indigo and Lucky Limeade.  Again, great design options for a masculine card.

Gnome Sweet Gnome!

This is another great Gnome Sweet Gnome card from one of my swapping buddies, Dorrie.  Aren't the punch art mushrooms super cute?! With a chef son, I'm thinking of what I can do with those mushrooms for something by way of a kitchen-inspired card for him!  But, back to Gnome Sweet Gnome.  I love this stamp set from the Occasions Mini Catalog.  I knew when I saw it that it was a must-have for me.  When my kids were young we lived in England, and there was a darling after-school TV series called David the Gnome.  Evidently, it was on here in the States as well on Nickleodeon.  My kids all loved that show, so this rubber stamp set will connect with them all!  To read more about David the Gnome, click here!

Packed for Birthday

This handmade card featuring Packed for Birthday (single stamp, Occasions Mini Catalog) was inspired by a similar card I saw on one of the many display boards at the Stampin' Up! Regional Conference here in San Antonio in January.  For us here in San Antonio, this is a perfect rubber stamp for birthdays with the pinata added into other birthday images.  Pinatas are featured at LOTS fo our birthday parties!
