Although I introduced you to this fun, new Stampin' Up! kit earlier this week, I wanted to share a little more about it today.  When I was at Stampin' Up! Clear Blocks-Look What They Can Do!

Stampin' Up!'s Clear Blocks are a wonderful stamping tool!  Let me highlight this fantastic product for you!  Not only are they a cool, space-saving way to rubberstam p, but you can use them to combine images thus making your own custom stamps. Here, I have taken two images from the Tiny Tags stamp set and combined them to form a single stamp.  Is that cool, or what?!  It saves me time and allows me to make my own stamp formations.

This particular combination of stamped images was used for this little 3D stamp club project using the Big Shot Matchbox Die (114890).  By combining the two Tiny Tags stamp set (118592) images on one clear block, I can simply ink my stamp, press, and go.

Tip:  if you have trouble getting your clear-mount stamps to cling to your clear blocks (this normally happens in a very dry environment such as when we run central heating), simply attach a Mini Glue Dot (or two for large blocks) to your clear block.  Your stamps will cling every time.  Once all the sticky is used up on your dot, simply remove with Goo Gone or similar product and put a fresh one in its place.  If your Mini Glue Dot is too sticky, swipe it with your Embossing Buddy to remove excess stickiness.

Heat Embossing

Which ink is best for heat embossing your handmade cards and other papercrafting projects?  There are two approaches with Stampin' Up!, and both achieve excellent results.

1. VersaMark + Colored Embossing Powder

VersaMark is a versatile "ink" that can be used for stamping to create a watermark look,but it does double duty as it is also an essential ingredient for heat embossing with colored embossing powders.  The Versamark ink is rather sticky, and that is what you need to hold your embossing powder in place so that you can heat it and set it. 

So you can purchase just one VersaMark Pad (102283) and get a lot of different looks by simply changing the embossing powders you use.  This is the method I use for almost all my embossing. 

Here is a card I made using the Cherry Embossing Powder (122949). You can see the different results with our classic ink and heat embossing.  The ornaments on the card below are heat embossed with the Cherry Embossing Powder and therefore are raised up, just like the lettering on a fancy business card.  The little postage stamp is made with a Classic Stampin' Pad.

2.  Craft Stampin' Pad + Clear Embossing Powder

The other method of heat embossing is to use a Craft Stampin' Pad in any color and then add Clear Embossing Powder.  This method allows you to, literally, heat emboss in any color.  The nice thing about this is you just buy one embossing powder.  This is particularly cost-effective if you purchase the Craft Stampin' Spots as you get an entire set of 10 (a whole color collection) for just $19.95.  Clear Embossing Powder (109130) is just $4.75.  So for less than $25, you can heat emboss (and stamp!) in 10 colors!

Quick and Easy Scrapbook Pages

People sometimes ask, "What is your favorite tool for quick and easy scrapbook pages?"  I have to say the Big Shot Die Cutting Machine, hands-down!  But I will get even more specific in this post and say that the Tasteful Trim Die is my favorite die for scrapbooking. 

Being able to make 12" borders/embellishments with a few cranks is one of the greatest helps in creating scrapbook pages in a snap.  The fact that you can use your scraps to create those borders also makes this a money-saving tool!  I like that!

I'm showing a few quick and easy scrapbook pages here so you can see some of the applications of the Tasteful Trim Die.  Although you can make 12" trim pieces, you can also make them shorter, of course.  So if you have a 1" x 6" scrap, you can roll it through the Big Shot on a portion of the die and make your own embellishment for $0.00.  Free is my favorite price:)  This is true "trash to treasure"!  I'm only showing here 2 of the 4 fantastic trims on the die due to space.  But click on the link and you can see them all.
