I have never been more excited to be a Stampin' Up! demonstrator! As the 25th Anniversary Year continues to unfold, Stampin' Up! keeps bringing us fresh, exciting news, new products, specials, and opportunities.

Today, I'm happy to share the Color Refresh, a freshening up of our color palette. Our colors are the backbone of design and our unique look. As such, we keep them fresh, trendy and coordinated for perfectly gorgeous creativity! Even the name, "Color Refresh" is perfect because it really does bring a fresh breeze of creativity and excitement! I can hardly contain myself!

So you see here the new colors coming our way with the new Stampin' Up! catalog which releases June 1st. You will see some former In Colors that will now be part of our core color colections. We already knew that Calypso Coral and Pool Party were returning (Yay and yay!) as they are part of the Epic Day Designer Series Paper from the new This and That Smash Book collection. I love them both:)

But I'm also thrilled to now see the return of Crushed Curry! I love that bold, deep, wonderful yellow! Soft Sky goes back a ways, and I'm so excited to see its return as it was a color I was wild about and so sorry to see it have to leave. Its cool freshness is to die for! Actually, I'm happy about all these colors, but those are probably my favorites. Smoky Slate is an all-new color that we haven't seen in person as yet. But it looks like a paler shade of gray, and grays are very, very trendy right now. A new one will be wonderful!

Of course, to make room for these new, fresh colors, we must say "goodbye" to some that have been around for quite some time. And although I like all of these colors, I can let go of them to make room for the new. It's sorta like letting go of a favorite pair of shoes or jeans that have been a part of our life for so long and done us so much good. But if they are a bit worn out and there is something really fabulous to replace them, it makes their parting a bit easier. Parting is such sweet sorrow:)

Saturday Sample - Sale-a-Bration

For today's Saturday Sample, I'm sharing a swap I made featuring Sale-a-Bration's Sycamore Street DSP for my monthly Southern Sweet Stampers (my demonstrator group) meeting. I love the bright cheeriness as well as incredible versatility of this DSP! I coupled it with a couple of items from the Stampin' Up! Spring Catalog: Tea Lace Doilies (love these!!!) and Soda Pop Tops (love these, too!!!) as well as the Collage Curios rubberstamp set. I was totally inspired to make this card by another card made by demonstrator Andi Potler.

My stamp club ladies will be making this card next week at our rubberstamp clubs in San Antonio. I offer 3 times to meet, making it easy to fit your schedule. The meetings are totally optional but way fun! And there are levels with which to participate so you can find what works best for your budget. Easter Elegance-Crosses of Hope

For my handmade Easter projects this year, I wanted to utilize the Crosses of Hope rubberstamp set as my main theme--my creative springboard. Although I love the bunnies and eggs, the cross is central to the entire Easter message and purpose. We are celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ which occurred after he was brutally executed on a Roman cross. As we celebrate Easter in the spring, we typically think of spring colors. But in addition to echoing the physical season of the year, the light and bright colors we associate with Easter also convey the message of hope in the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

I plan to send out about a dozen handmade Easter cards this year, and this is my card for Easter 2013. (Come back next Sunday for more handmade Easter projects with the same theme and color scheme!) As I have mentioned before, Summer Starfruit is my absolute favorite In Color (2012-2014). I adore it! To me, it almost works like a neutral. I am also in love with all the designs in the Sycamore Street Designer Series Paper (free during Sale-a-Bration , Jan. 22-Mar. 22), but I particularly love the one in my handmade Easter card here. It's the one that is all Summer Starfruit and white. Talk about elegance! So I had my color palette and main focal point for my handmade Easter card. All I needed was a few more design elements and my card would be ready.

The other design inspiration I was working with is the mantilla. I spent some of my youth in Central America and South America where women wore mantillas to church. I remember them as being very pretty little lace head coverings, and as a young girl, I thought they were beautiful. Although my family was not Catholic, even non-Catholics wore these pretty head coverings, more as a statement of fashion than a religious tradition. So stay with me here. What does all this have to do with a handmade Easter card? Well, the frilly, lacy character of our wonderful new Tea Lace Paper Doilies reminds me of those mantillas I saw as a young girl with their pretty, lacy look. For mine, I added just a hint of Dazzling Details for a bit of sparkle (which doesn't show up well in my photo...sigh). Anyway, I'm pleased with the result of my decidedly inspirational Easter card. Sale-a-Bration Scrapbooking

I love that one of the free Stampin' Up! product selections during Sale-a-Bration (Jan. 22-Mar. 22) is Designer Series Paper (aka dsp) as it is every scrapbooker's best friend. Every pack of dsp is 12 pages of double sided 12 x 12 paper, 2 each of 6 designs (on both sides) for a total of 12 designs and 12 sheets! That's a lot of variety and a lot of pages...all coordinated to work together. Here, I've used the coordinating Sycamore Street dsp and Sycamore Street Ribbon & Button Pack for my color scheme as well as scrapbook page elements for Sale-a-Bration scrapbooking. And I paired those papers and embellishments with the beautiful Daydream Medallions rubberstamp set and coordinating Floral Framelits dies for easy scrapbooking with plenty of style.

These are the scrapbook pages we made at my January free scrapbook class. At each monthly free scrapbook class, we make a full, 2-page 12 x 12 layout and a 3D project (like a bookmark, treat holder, favor, etc.). With no scrapbook stores in San Antonio left, my free scrapbook class is a great place for scrapbookers to gather, enjoy creativity, and share life and great conversation while we scrapbook. Dress Up Framelit Dies-Saturday Sample

For today's Saturday Sample, here's a handmade card that combines the fun and whimsy of the Dress Up Framelits with the beautiful Sycamore Street Designer Series Paper (papers free during Sale-a-Bration, Jan. 22-Mar. 22). This is a great example of the seamless coordination that Stampin' Up! makes possible in our handmade cards and other projects through products that work together effortlessly. Today's card was created by my swapping buddy June.

Sweet-as in Candy. Since I'm known as Sweet Stamper because my name is Candy, I wanted to include "sweet" as part of my group name. Sweet is an adjective that aptly describes my group of Stampin' Up! demonstrators. The dictionary defines sweet as "winning, lovable, charming." That perfectly describes the ladies on my Southern Sweet Stampers team! We "win" people over to rubberstamping and papercrafting, we are lovable (most of the time!), and we are charming:)
Stampers-of course! As Stampin' Up! Demonstrators we stamp! And we make money doing what we love, and even more important, we make a difference...in our communities, in our families, and in our own lives through our creative projects and the way we "give back."

Dr. Who Police Box-Feeling Sentimental

So after I created my Dr. Who card for yesterday's post, I decided to make a fun little favor to coordinate with it and to include in my Sale-a-Bration Countdown. Sale-a-Bration Countdown Continues with Dr. Who!

At my Open House last Saturday, my friend Suzie and I were looking at the phone box image in the Feeling Sentimental rubberstamp set and reminiscing about our many days in England. Suzie spent quite a few years living in the UK as did I. Suzie commented on how you could easily take the phone box and turn it into a police box, Dr. Who style. So here's my masculine card, totally inspired by Suzie's musings! My Sale-a-Bration Countdown continues with a Dr. Who card:)

I went with a bold, bright color scheme and only some metal "bling" for embellishment to keep with my masculine card/Dr. No theme. To convert the phone box into a police box ala Dr. Who, I added Silver Sparkle Dazzling Details to the top to form a light and used my Signo White Gel Pen to write the word POLICE across the top of the box. Now, there are plenty of women/girl Dr. Who fans, so I will probably end up doing a feminine version of this masculine card, too. Although having said that, this card is really gender neutral. Both men and women...Dr. Who fans, of course, would love receiving this handmade Dr. Who card! So much fun to make, so much fun to give:)

I used the phone box from Feeling Sentimental as the main focal image and the "hi" greeting (from A Little Greeting stamp set in the Spring Catalog). I thought "hi" was the perfect greeting to go with the phone box:)

Sale-a-Bration Countdown-Inspirational Card

Today's inspirational card is part of my Sale-a-Bration Countdown, and I combined the Madison Avenue stamp set (free during Sale-a-Bration, January 22-March 22), Vine Street Embossing Folder (free during Sale-a-Bration, January 22-March 22), and Blessings from Heaven stamp set to create a cheery card for someone special. I added a few tiny hearts (from the Owl Builder Punch--so versatile!) so that it could have a Valentine greeting inside if you wish and totally transition into Valentine's Day. Or you can use this as an all-occasion card with the hearts signifying extra love and appreciation:)

We are at the beginning of 2013, and I challenge you to spread God's love this year via inspirational cards. Blessings from Heaven and Trust God rubberstamp sets both convey amazingly inspirational messages (as do many other Stampin' Up! stamps). And during Sale-a-Bration, you can get so many free products that you can easily and affordably gather enough supplies to make lots of people in your world feel special all year. You already think your loved ones are special. Let them know that in a meaningful way that continues to bring your love...through a handstamped card. When the phone calls and visits are over, or when the miles stretch so far that visits are much too infrequent, let your handstamped cards--with special inspirational messages--convey your love and care. Last year, at about this time, Stampin' Up! had lots of goodies in the Clearance Rack. My daughter Tiffany (handydandyhelper.blogspot.com, my regular Friday guest blogger) sat down with pen and notebook in hand in front of her desktop computer opened to the Stampin' Up! Clearance Rack. She wrote down the name of each person in the family and started shopping. She planned and made gifts for her brothers and their wives, her dad and me, all 4 of her children, her husband and plenty of special friends and extended family using Stampin' Up! Clearance Rack supplies. Her time and money are both on a tight budget as she is a SAHM to a 1 year old and 2 year old. I marvel at her organization and resulting productivity! Clearance Rack and start grabbing incredible bargains...although you do need to move fairly quickly as all Clearance Rack merchandise is there only while supplies last...but to do so with purpose and some loose planning. Tiffany knew that if some catastrophe arose and she was unable to finish some of her planned projects, she could delay and/or repurpose her supplies. With deals like these, you can't go wrong!

Crop-a-dile--although I rarely set eyelets these days, I still use my CAD frequently for punching holes through chip board and multiple layers of cardstock, making new holes for leather belts, etc.
