Floral Phrases Simple Stamping Card

floralphrasesstampinupelegantthankyoucardcandyrattray
One of my favorites on the Stampin' Up! retiring stamp sets list is Floral Phrases.  It's hard to beat for simple elegance.  Although there are some great wedding greetings, I made an elegant thank you card in two retiring In Colors today:  Berry Burst and Powder Pink.  I like them both!

Powder Pink and Smoky Slate make a soft, subtle elegant look for this thank you card while the same card in Berry Burst and Night of Navy have a high contrast, bolder look.

Here are my couple of highlights of for today's cards:

  1. Floral Phrases' main image is this gorgeous flower.  It's a "forgiving" stamp meaning it's super easy to stamp, easy to line up, easy to create with.
  2. Berry Burst and Powder Pink are both retiring In Colors.  Powder Pink is our palest pink and much more icy and clear than Blushing Bride.
  3. These cards are #simplestamping:  Stamps, Ink, and Paper with just a bit of ribbon and a few rhinestones.  Quick, easy, elegant, and done--my kind of card!

And leave a comment telling me which card is your favorite--Berry Burst or Powder Pink!

Very Vintage Card Ideas with Sponging Effect

veryvintagehostsetstampinupcandyrattrayHave you noticed Very Vintage host stamp set in the Stampin' Up! annual catalog?  I love it!  Here are 2 cards I made on Facebook Live at facebook.com/sweetstamper.  I made the striped one for my sister-in-law's birthday, and the checked one uses identical supplies except for the different pattern of paper and the bow.

Host stamp sets aka Stampin' Rewards are only available when placing a minimum $150 order.  That can be your own purchase or a group of friends ordering together.  That $150 order generates $15 in Stampin' Rewards aka free money to spend on Stampin' Up! products!  While you can use your free money on anything at all, I like to use it on the host only stamp sets.  Very Vintage is only $13.50.  That is an amazing bargain as it's a $27 value.

I have the pdf tutorial for you here.  This is actually a quick and easy card made special with sponging and a really gorgeous stamp set! I'll point out just a few things about my cards:

  • Champagne Foil Sheet is my go-to for really elegant shine.  It's softer than Silver Foil Sheet and not yellowy like Gold Foil Sheet.  I think it's pretty perfect!
  • I opted for Basic Gray vs Black for both my ink and cardstock.  Gray is softer and more in keeping with the effect obtained through sponging.
  • My focal piece is not centered.  Placement is a key element in design, and center is not always best.  Play with placement when you are working on your own cards, particularly when you are the very end of designing.  Sometimes doing something a little different than your original plan is the perfect finishing touch!

Flourishing Phrases Quick and Easy Card

flourishingphrasesstampinupcaringcardI love to make a card that looks great in both landscape and portrait orientation, and that is what I did with these 2 quick and easy cards using Flourishing Phrases stamp set (a must for sending "caring cards"--the ones that convey heartfelt thoughts, sympathy, and healing prayers) and coordinating Flourish Thinlit Dies.

All supplies used are in the Stampin' Up! annual catalog (with the exception of the Grapefruit Grove Foil Sheet that was free during Sale-a-Bration.  You could easily substitute that for Copper Foil Sheet or Champagne Foil Sheet.)

Here are a few things I had in mind when creating these cards:

  • I love the phrase "with warmth & caring from me" because it covers a lot of ground in the caring department.  When someone is going through any kind of difficult season or rough patch, this phrase is perfect.
  • Leaves seem to always bring a calming effect and are perfect for any type of caring card.
  • Mint Macaron also evokes a calm sense.  Here, I paired it with Shaded Spruce for a largely monochromatic color scheme.

These layouts are easy to reproduce.  You could make this same card in several colors and Designer Series Papers.  I love having a stash of caring cards on hand so I'm prepared to send some caring mail to those I encounter who need a lift.

All Stampin' Up! supplies are listed and linked below for your convenience.  Get them while you can as  a new Stampin' Up! annual catalog comes out in June, and some of these items may retire!

Animal Outing Scrapbook Pages

animaloutingscrapbookpagesstampinupMy new Scrapbook Class Series features 3 coordinating pages to mix and match as you see fit, and this month's scrapbook pages use Animal Outing and the coordinating Animal Expedition Designer Series Papers.

Here are just a few details of my scrapbook pages, perfect for pics of kids.  I'll share another photo once I get my pictures popped in!

  1. 12" x 12" Neutrals Cardstock is a perfect backdrop for my pops of color in Berry Burst and Lemon Lime Twist.  Those are both retiring In Colors, and I will really, really miss Lemon Lime Twist!  I especially love its vibrancy when scrapbooking outdoor photos. animaloutingstampinupscrapbookpages
  2. When using heavily patterned Designer Series Papers in scrapbook pages, I like to choose one of those patterns to highlight.  For the remaining Designer Series Paper pieces, I use the "B side" aka the subtle side.  I never want to distract from my photos, so I keep strong patterns to a minimum.
  3. I may be in the minority, and maybe it's because I teach a lot of classes, but I actually prefer to make the scrapbook pages first and then find photos to fit.  Otherwise, I spend all day trying to decide my layouts and which photos to use, color scheme, etc.  It takes me way too long!  For me, I usually start with Designer Series Paper and then go from there.

All of my Stampin' Up! scrapbook supplies used in these pages are listed and linked below for your convenience.  Get some of these basic scrapbook supplies from Stampin' Up! and you will be amazed at how many cool and versatile pages you can make!

If you're in the San Antonio area, be sure to mark your calendar and join us next month for scrapbooking--First Thursday of the month at both 11 AM and 5 PM for your convenience.  I can't wait to scrapbook with you!
