Texture Chic Card Idea

Blog Hop-Trip AchieversWelcome to the June installment of the Trip Achievers Blog Hop where demonstrators across the globe link together with creative inspiration to help you in your creative journey.  You are at Candy Rattray, and the full list of participants is at the bottom of this post.

For today's share I chose a fun fold card using the gorgeous Texture Chic DSP and dies, but I went with the amazing greeting from Charming Sentiments.  "Faith Over Fear" is a perfect greeting in today's world for a card to send to anyone, anywhere!  "Faith Over Fear" is an inspirational greeting that encourages us to look up to God rather than the very broken world in which we live.

texturechicstampinupfaithoverfearinspirationalcardcandyrattrayI designed this card for my Annual Catalog Paper Party this past weekend.  I will have details forthwith of my upcoming July-December Paper Party in September.  I team up with Karina Chin in Canada with card ideas centered around the amazing new Designer Series Papers.

Here are a few salient points about my Texture Chic fun fold card:

I varied different finishes on the rectangles:  straight, scalloped, and stitched.  That gives textural interest while keeping a cohesive look.

My gold-embossed greeting ties into the gold foiling in the DSP.

Layering both cardstock and distressed gold foil on the leaves gives more interest.

I made the same card using different patterns of the DSP.  Which do you like best?

Tea Boutique Card Idea

I have a super simple Tea Boutique card idea for you today.  Although it's really quick and easy to make, it's bright and cheerful and sure to bring a smile.  Simple handmade cards can still be lovely!  This is a perfect beginner card for those new to card-making.  But it's also great for us avid crafters who just want to make pretty cards:)

IMHO, when you have designer paper aka scrapbook paper as pretty as Tea Boutique, you just need to let it take center stage and shine!

The pattern I chose features the following new In Colors:  Tahitian Tide, Starry Sky, Orchid Oasis, and Sweet Sorbet. Although these new In Colors look great together, they work really well with lots of Stampin' Up! core colors.  Click here for your free In Color Coach.  You will want to print it and keep it handy.

Heart & Home Doilies are on the January-June Retiring List AND they are on sale.  They are only available while supplies last, so be sure to grab some while you can!  I am a HUGE doily fan, and the Heart & Home Doilies may be my most favorite of all Stampin' Up! doilies to date:)

All Stampin' Up! supplies are listed and linked below for your shopping and reference convenience.

Eclectic Garden Fun Fold Card Idea for Training Blog Hop

Kylie's Training Blog HopWelcome, welcome to the June installment of Kylie & Bruno's Training Program Blog Hop!  I've been enormously blessed to be part of the training group this year as a trainer--what a huge honor!  I've loved being part of this group and partaking of the AWESOME training provided by Kylie, Bruno, and an awesome group of top Stampin' Up! demonstrators they have gathered to help us in very practical ways.  We all want to move our businesses forward, and learning from each other makes a big difference.

Any participant in the group gets the opportunity to join this monthly blog hop, so here I am with an Eclectic Garden Fun Fold Card Idea.

Eclectic Garden stamp set made its debut in the January-June Mini Catalog this year and caught my eye on my first pass through the book.  I love gardening images and am also a big-time foodie.  Fruits and vegetables are fabulous art images, and I have a real penchant for still life art.  But I digress...that is for another day:)

My Eclectic Garden Fun Fold Card is perfect for any level crafter--beginner to avid.  Let me share a few points about my Eclectic Garden Fun Fold Card that make it work:

  1. The fold!  This accordion style book fold is a bit unexpected and fun:)
  2. The Designer Series Paper!  DSP is my favorite design element for card-making next to actual stamps.  I love it and using it in a fun-fold just makes everything about my card special:)  The woodland images in Happy Forest Friends are super versatile, and the mushrooms on the inside of this fun fold card are a perfect pairing with the garden images of Eclectic Garden.
  3. By stamping my image with a colored ink and then using Blends to color them in (vs. using a black ink outline), I get a more artistic look.
  4. By putting a die-cut on the inside of my card to write my message, I add interest and also create just a small space for writing to keep it quick!

Cottage Rose Card Ideas

I do love the Abigail Rose Suite which includes Cottage Rose Bundle.  It is so versatile!  At the beginning of my YouTube video below, you will see a number of Cottage Rose card-making ideas.  Check out my monthly card class by mail with 8 more Cottage Rose card ideas--just click here.

For today's Cottage Rose card I chose Soft Sea Foam to bring a soft look that moved me away from the many neutrals in the suite.  I love showing the versatility of our stamp sets, and Cottage Rose is incredibly versatile.

Let me point out just a few things about today's super simple card featuring Cottage Rose Bundle:

Random stamping the background with Soft Sea Foam ink gives me a tone-on tone look which is soft and subtle yet gives a lot of interest and the perfect canvas for my floral arrangement.

By coloring my rose with Petal Pink Blends and then adding a small strip of Petal Pink Cardstock plus the Elegant Faceted Gems, I have just enough pops of color to "jump off the page."

The stamped images are so detailed and luxurious that using just stamps, ink, and paper really makes them shine.  This is #simplestamping except for the use of dies.

The Cottage Rose Dies make super simple--and quick--work of cutting out the flowers and leaves.  You could fussy cut these images, but why??!!!
