Card Idea for Walk in the Woods #simplestamping

We had so much fun on World Cardmaking Day (#wcmd2020)!  I hosted an all-day virtual event with live stamping demonstrations every hour plus pdf inspiration sheets or tutorials for each card.  Free creative inspiration and fun!  I'm so proud of my team.  We had an excellent variety of stamping styles, degree of experience needed to copy, and stamp sets.  I took a #simplestamping card featuring Walk in the Woods and then stepped it up just a bit.

#simplestamping concentrates on the main elements of cardmaking, STAMPS, INK, and PAPER.  Then we add a little something, or not.  I love working with Watercolor Pencils and used them here for a soft woodland look.  I used the masking technique to place the cute little hedgehog so he is coming out from underneath the mushrooms.  I think he is super cute!  This card is perfect for new stampers.  It's a beginner card but looks much more advanced.  Such is the magic of a simple technique and the watercolor pencils:)

Walk in the Woods simple-2

I've shown you my original card for comparison.  I stepped up by adding DSP and a little cardstock flag.  Those are the only changes I made.  Easy peasy! And I actually like both versions.  Click here for my free pdf tutorial.

All Stampin' Up! supplies are listed and linked below for your convenience.  Be sure to like my page and set your reminders as I do Facebook Live free card making demonstrations every Tuesday and Thursday at 2PM CT.  I hope to see you there!

Celebration Tidings Christmas Card with a Fancy Fold!

This fancy fold is so fun to make--it's quick and easy, too!  It brings back childhood memories of making paper airplanes!  I paired it with Celebration Tidings Bundle for a Christmas card that come together quickly but looks special.  That gorgeous stitched label is the perfect focal piece which means I only need a minimum of embellishment.

Here are a few details to note:

  • I used Wink of Stella on my winter foliage bouquet to bring just a bit of color and shine.  It bleeds out the Garden Green ink to give just a hint of green.
  • Triangle Front Fancy Fold look great in landscape or portrait mode.  Come back tomorrow to see my Halloween card using the same fold and Celebration Tidings bundle in landscape mode for a totally different look!
  • Triangle Front Fancy Fold looks best when using small patterned DSP.
  • Toile Tidings DSP is such a classic look.  The winter foliage bouquet in Celebration Tidings stamp set echoes the print in Toile Tidings to unify the elements of this quick, easy, Christmas card that is still special.

Basket of Blooms Card Idea--Masculine Card!

Welcome to the Maui Achiever's Blog Hop where demonstrators unite from across the world to bring you beautiful, creative inspiration for your stamping.  You are at Candy Rattray,, and the full list of others on this blog hop is at the very bottom of this post.

A potted plant with just foliage is a perfect gift for a man.  It will sit nicely on the desk of a co-worker or brighten the room of someone who is ill.  Why not make that perfect gift into a card that needs no water or perfect mix of indirect light?!!!  Cinnamon Cider, Shaded Spruce, and Just Jade make a lovely masculine color scheme and are just the ticket for my "paper potted plant"!  I prefer an understated look for my masculine cards with a minimum of embellishments.  Here, the small ribbon knot and In Color Enamel Dot add just the right amount of texture and interest.

I've been loving the new 2020-2022 In Colors, and Cinnamon Cider is in my focus this month as I've worked with it on my twice weekly Facebook Lives.  This masculine card, featuring Basket of Blooms stamp set, was on my Simple & Stepped Up demonstration. with this masculine version as well as a stepped up one that includes flowers.  Basket of Blooms is such a versatile stamp set!

All supplies used are listed and linked below for your convenience.  Thanks so much for stopping by, and be sure to click below for the next stop on this month's Maui Achiever's Blog Hop.

Grace's Garden Sympathy Card

gracesgardensympathycardstampinupcandyrattrayI demonstrated (and actually created it for the first time!) this card on my weekly Facebook Live, Tuesday @ 2 this week.  I had a few things in my head as I had just been using Grace's Garden on another card (click here to see it).  Then I took the colors for the Global Design Project#257 here: :Highland Heather, Balmy Blue and Misty Moonlight.  This color combo made me think of a peaceful, ethereal, heavenly scene, perfect for a sympathy card.

GDP 257

Let me highlight just a few things about my Grace's Garden sympathy card:

  1. Vellum Cardstock is perfect for giving a soft look.It was just the right touch for my sympathy sentiment as it gave the words presence without overpowering the gate and garden images.
  2. The gate image is really lovely for a sympathy card signifying the barrier between two realms--heaven and earth.
  3. Although I normally eschew anything blingy on a sympathy card, Blue Adhesive Backed Gems are soft, lovely, and have just enough shine and iridescent look to capture the image of heaven.

Click on my video below to see the process for my Grace's Garden sympathy card and subscribe to my You Tube channel, please!  That helps me so much:)  Click here for my free pdf inspiration sheet with measurements and supplies.

Grace's Garden Card Idea

gracesgardencandyrattraystampinupToday's share features a Grace's Garden card idea.  Grace's Garden stamp set has charming images with lots of versatility plus some lovely sentiments.  The coordinating Garden Gateway dies make short shrift of cutting out ALL the images:)  I'm entering Kylie Bertucci's International Blog Highlights Contest and would so appreciate your vote.  Just click here to vote for me and see some other amazing projects.

Let me point out a few things about my Grace's Garden card idea:

  • There is just one fence stamp, but you can stamp it multiple times, die-cut it, and then make a fence as long as you wish!
  • Only the tops of my flowers will be seen, so I only colored the top to save time:)
  • Although there are some excellent sentiments in Grace's Garden stamp set, I needed something small and bold.  Well Said dies to the rescue!

Please head to Kylie Bertucci's International Blog Highlights gallery and vote for my card--I so appreciate your support!

Plaid Tidings Fall Card Idea

Plaid Tidings Designer Series Paper in the August - December Mini Catalog (aka Holiday Catalog:) is just so FUN to create and play with.  It's also uber versatile working well with masculine, feminine, fall, Christmas, and even kid designs!  (And isn't the name Plaid Tidings just too cute??!!!I used it to make fall cards for some of my Southern Sweet Stampers top achievers.

My Southern Sweet Stampers team of demonstrators is a positive, creative community full of people:

  • at every level of crafting, beginner to advanced
  • shy, quiet types to rowdy party animals
  • ALL enjoying their amazing discount!
  • who do not run classes as well as those who do

I love to spoil my top achievers.  They are working hard, and I like to cheer them on.  It was fun to make these cards and then decide which plaid most suited each person!

Let me share a few things about today's fall card shares:

  1. My greeting comes from a stamp set A Grand Kid aimed at grandkids!  Although some of the greetings are very specific to grandchildren, some can be more widely used.  I like that kind of versatility:)
  2. The touchable texture from the Embroidered Ribbon beckons you to feel it!
  3. Gold Glitter Enamel Dots add a touch of class and elegance.  I love to add a little eclectic touch, mixing up styles.  That contrast is a design element I love:)  Although I have deep colors and sponging and school girl plaids and folksy ribbon, add those sparkly dots and you elevate the whole design!

Thanks so much for stopping by today.  All Stampin' Up! supplies are listed and linked to my online store below for your convenience.
